Cholesterol and coffee

Cafestol is an active ingredient found in coffee. If you are planning to bring the cholesterol levels down then you must leave coffee forever. In one of the studies taken up recently, it was found that coffee does not combine with cholesterol lowering lifestyle and diet.
French Press, Espresso are unfiltered coffee. And these types are rich in ingredients like caffeine, chlorogenic acid, and diterpenes. Some of the studies indicate that these ingredients are helpful in regulation of blood sugar levels and also reduce the risk of liver cancer. But in contrast to this one of the other studies found that cafestol and kahweol are two active ingredients found in unfiltered coffee. And it was seen that these two ingredients actually raises the cholesterol levels. It was seen that people who consumed 10 cups of espresso or French press coffee increased their cholesterol levels by 20 percent. This is mainly due to increase in LDL which is bad cholesterol and increase in triglycerides.

Filtered or brewed coffee have less content or no content of cafestol and kahweol. Thus one can have moderate quantities of filtered coffee. But if you add cream or high fat milk to this then it can contribute in cholesterol rise.
